Fostering a rescued dog can be one of the most rewarding experiences you can have and the benefits the dog and the rescue receive are beyond measure. Foster homes are always needed due to the large quantity of animals in shelters that face euthanasia every day. Rescues, whether independent or working with national groups, do not have enough room to all help all those that are in need when most cities/municipalities place limits on how many we can have.
Some will say, “It’s too hard” or, “My heart will be broken when he is adopted.” While fostering is just not about love and food, please know that at least 70% of all animals that end up in a shelter are euthanized. Yes, it’s difficult to foster and then say goodbye when their “forever” family has been found, but you are literally saving a dogs life!!!! You have loved him, guided him, quieted his fears, nursed his pain and healed his soul so that he CAN be part of a family unit, healthy and whole and there is nothing more worthwhile and rewarding you can ever do.
Good Dog Rescue of Nebraska is always in need of foster homes. We need our foster homes to give shelter, food and love to our rescues along with a safe environment to heal. Often our rescues are heartworm positive and need a restricted environment while the medicine does it job, but they will all need to have their house manners and obedience worked with.
Good Dog Rescue of Nebraska will cover all costs for food, medical treatment and supplies. PLEASE NOTE: Fencing is required and your personal pets must be spayed/neutered and up to date on their vaccinations. No rescued dog will be kept outdoors or anywhere other than in the home. We require an adoption application, home visit, fencing and an adoption agreement for all of our placements.
We find forever homes for our dogs, not just homes!
